The main reason to come to Copan are the Mayan ruins of Copan. We stayed in the village at walking distance of the ruins with the confusing name Copan Ruinas. Copan Ruinas is an easygoing place with cobblestone streets, a Parque Central and many lovely restaurants and guesthouses all within walking distance.
We stayed for two nights. So we couldn't not only visit the impressive ruins in the striking environment of the rainforest, but also one of the small villages in the mountains by horseback.

Hello, Ali! Thanks for your wonderful story about this superb place... Very authentic and attractive!... ><><><><
I'm going there next month. Thank you for sharing.
What are all these cars doing in the "green innercourt"??
Great page on Copan. Its right up there with Tikal, Chichen Itza and Palanque.
Quality pages, thanks for sharing.
Wonderful page for Copan, Ali. I enjoyed everything very much, and without having to ride a horse.
Co and his little angel , and you on the Horse..am glad you didn't fall this time. Thanks for sharing.
Riding the horse in the countryside outside Copan Ruinas sounds great!
Ali, now it is my turn to be envious of your experiences in Honduras! Excellent tips here, even if I did jump the gun a bit. Sue and I are looking forward to returning to Central America and to more of your tips!
