In !994 we visited Zimbabwe as part of a trip to Malawi, Zimbabwe and Botswana.
We arrived in Zimbabwe by bus from Malawi via the corridor route in Mozambique.
We visited Harare, Rukweza, Chimanimani, Great Zimbabwe Ruins, Bulawayo, Hwange Park and Victoria Falls.

I don't know how safe Zimbabwe will be nowadays for travellers.
The reports about that are different.
So check before you go.

People

We enjoyed it very much to meet the people of Zimbabwe and learn something about their daily life.
The best opportunity we had during our stay in a small village Rukweza near Rusape, south-east of Harare.

Culture

Karanga Village, Great Zimbabwe

The Great Zimbabwe Ruins near Masvingo are superb.
We also visited reconstructed traditional villages, museums, traditional dances.
Further Zimbabwe is famous because of its stone sculptures of the Tengenenge Art Community.

Nature

Hwange National Park

Zimbabwe has a lot of Game Parks.
The Hwange National Park is my favorite, because of the many herds of elephants. It is so impressive to be in the middle of these herds !
The natural beauty of the Victoria Falls is phenomenal !
Also it's worth to visit the mountaineous area round Chimanimani near the border with Mozambique.

Pros and Cons

Pros:People, culture and nature !!!!
Cons:Uncertain situation nowadays.

An excellent page on Zimbabwe!! Those balancing rock hills bring back great memories for me, but I never had the chance to see Great Zimbabwe. Beautiful game park & village life tips too Ali!!

Wonderful page Ali! I enjoyed reading it a lot! We have started to make rough plans for visiting the Victoria Falls and Hwange NP. Visiting this area is a dream of ours, so hopefully in 2 - 3 years time we will! :-) Thanks for letting me dream a bit :-))
