Anything of all...

Seabridge of Sellin
...white chalk cliffs, leafy green avenues, thatched cottages in fishing villages, romantic little harbours and the fine white sands of endless beaches.

The island of Ruegen is the biggest island in Germany. The countryside has lots of contrasts. Kilometers of lonely beaches, creeks with lots of fish, hilly areas , woods, small fishing villages, and crowded seaside resorts.

The Baltic Sea seaside resort Sellin, where we stayed for ten days, is situated on the peninsula Moenchgut in south-east Ruegen. Sellin belongs to the most popular seaside resorts, besides Binz and Goehren, on the island Ruegen. Along the Wilhelm-Road one can admire splendid buildings from the time of the origin of the special seaside resort architecture.
Sellin posseses not only the longest (394m) but also the most beautiful sea-bridge on Ruegen. Ar first sight it looks with its towers and domes like a fairy tale castle. In the evening thousands of small lamps light up the entire bridge and the visitors are lured on the bridge building into the restaurants "palm garden" and "emperor garden."

The brilliant white of the chalk cliffs, the dark green of the ancient beech woods and the immense expanse of blue sea are the lasting impressions of this landscape of extraordinary contrasts in the north-eastern Jasmund peninsula. Towards the east, the cliffs plunge dramatically seawards, creating extraordinary chasms, the largest of which is the Königstuhl with a height of 118m.

This landscape was formed during the ice age, when mile high glaciers tore massive blocks of chalk from under the earth’s surface and propelled them into vertical positions. Strata of other materials dating back to the same prehistoric era are found pressed between the chalk blocks.

In the southern area of the island you will find the "Rasende Roland" ("racing Roland", a small, slow and historic train), that will bring you to the three famous seaside resorts of Binz, Sellin and Göhren.

Ruegen invites you for a lot of activities: hiking, biking, watersport and Wellness. There are many possibilities to enjoy the day.
my boyfriend enjoys the view from the "Königstuhl"
