Asia in a small format

Penang is wonderful and diversified, much to see and to do. I was very surprised of the variety in culture which rereflect in all.

You stand in a road crossing and sees on the left an indian temple, straight ahead a chinese temple and around the corner a mosque.

Or, you sits in a bar and hear how somebody applies four languages in one sentence.

And as well varied is dinner, malay, indian and chinese food, european dishes or pizza...
There is georgetown the capital of Penang, a city steeped in history and tradition yet sparkling with progress and modern development. Certain sections of Penang present a quaint picture from the past where narrow side streets, trishaws temples and traders plying their goods, seem to belong to a forgotten era.

Kek Lok Si. This temple at Air Itam is reputed to be the most beautiful and the largest Buddhist Temple complex in South East Asia.

You will find nice beaches for relaxing in Batu Ferringghi.

The lots of restaurants and hawker boasts some of the best food in the region. Going out for party in one of the bars or clubs is fun. There you will meet a lot of local people, tourists and backpackers.

Shopping in Guerney Plaza, on nightmarkets or at tourist places like Kek Lok Si is possible. So enjoy!
My favourite at Penang was going on penang hill. We go there in the late afternoon on a week day. So we had luck and it was not crowded.

First we had some drinks at the hotel on the top of the hill. There we sit directly under some poisonous snakes (that's what the waiter told us).

After a while it becomes dark - WOW... the view was marvellous .
