If it seems like I am proud of Gadsden, it is because I am.
This city almost died in the 70's. Gadsden was once the "textbook" company town, controlled by a couple of big industries.
In the 1970's, the citys population plummeted while unemployment rose above the national average.
That was then.. this is now!
Today, Gadsden is back and it means business. What was once a dirty old industrial city is now a bustling urban area of nearly 106,000 friendly people.
Nestled in the foothills of Alabama, in the Coosa Valley, Gadsden has some of the best outdoor recreation in Alabama. The city itself has taken great pains to preserve the history, and shows in the newly rennovated downtown.
If you are ever in Alabama, it is worth the drive to Gadsden.
- Pros:Low cost of living, lots of recreation, low crime, high liveability, explosive growth.
- Cons:Needs more high tech jobs, still needs to modernize a little more.
- In a nutshell:Overall, Gadsden is a great place to live and raise a family.
