Bregenz is the capital of Vorarlberg, the westernmost federal state of Austria. The town is located on the shores of Lake Constance, the third largest freshwater lake in Central Europe, between Switzerland in the east and Germany in the northwest. The city is situated on the eastern shores of Lake Constance, on a plateau falling in a series of terraces to the lake at the foot of Pfänder mountain. It is a junction of the arterial roads from the Rhine valley to the German Alpine foothills, with cruise ship services on Lake Constance. |
| | Lake Constance or Lake of Constance (German and Alemannic Bodensee) is a large lake on the Rhine between Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. It lies approximately at 4739N, 919E. Landmarks buildings of Bregenz include Martins Tower, St. Gallus Church, the Art House, the Post Office Building, and the Lake Promenade. A well known meeting point for local philosophers, politicians, writers and musicians. |

y2ketan2007 Fri Dec 7, 2007 16:31 UTC Nice page and pictures. The whole of Austria is so lovely. I'll be there again in April 08. Just can't have enough of this little gem of a country. | lotharlerch Thu Oct 4, 2007 12:28 UTC Unfortunately I did not see Tosca in Bregenz but I have to confess that I still have not seen any opera of the Bregenzer Festspiele so far... |
