Where dreams come to reality?

by vdoortje - last update: May 17, 2006

Never thought I would be here

Dark clouds over Jerusalem
Friends invited me here. I am a christian, but still I was reluctant to go to Israel. My friends made me go there.
It was a last minute desicion. We realised it was Eastern/Pesach. Holiday time, it was hard to find a place to relaxe, but still we managed to get a place to sleap at a reasonable price.

I saw the country, the nature, saw excavations, met local people, felt the political itches. Was annoyed with the countries oppresive rules of kosher food; it even is being practised in Arabic restaurants.

Israel is a country where history is felt, to be seen, Where ever you go.

This picture is of Jerusalem, on a cloudy day. Dark cloulds over Jerusalem. It was Easter, the day we rememeber our Lord was risen from the death. I think there are no clouds when our Lord returns. But this day was Easter, filled with clouds

But there is light to be seen....

My mixed feelings

This is a torn country!! It has a lot to do with history!

Jesus said: "If you had ever known what peace could bring to you. But it will be hidden to you, even now!" (Luke 19:43).

This prophesy goes beyond times. Jesus was speaking of the political situation at the beginning of our era. But He knew there was more to come! And Jesus knew it as well.

In 1947 the UN decided that the Hebrew people are intitled to have their own country. After the "Holocaust" and the Zionist actions of people to proclaim their rights in this small strip of the Middle East. The UN allowed them to aboard this country. The consequences are horrific....

Millions of Jews gave their lives for this country over the centuries. The UN made a mistake to give any of it to Arabs. That is why the consequences are horrific.

Speaking of 1947 UN resolution, let me remind you this fact: The UN resolution suggested to devide the land between 2 states, Palestinian(Majority) & Jewish(minority of the land). Jews ACCEPTED it. Palestinians REJECTED it.
