A whole other sight of Egypt Like Dahab Nuweiba has a Hippy/seventies background. Along the beach there are a lot of Tourist Camps for the low budget travelers and backpackers. During the years of the Israel occupation of the Sinai Nuweiba was very popular with Israeli's and Western people who worked in a kibutz loved to spend their holidays in Nuweiba. Remains of that period are still to be seen.
Unlike Dahab Nuweiba seemed to be unable to adjust to the new demands of the tourists. Most trespassers are people who are trying to catch the ferry to Akaba. So Nuweiba is a peacefull, quiet village with hidden treasures. |
| | The Care taker I believe it is in Tarabeen, one of the bedouin villages the are part of Nuweiba (Alvin, help me out, please!).
There are the remains of a fortress, left after the Napoleon era. Now it is under "restoration", but it is done under Egyptian standards. The site is still nice, specially because of the care taker who so willingly posed for this picture |
Swiss Care Nuweiba Swiss Care Nuweiba was such a treat to us. They have no rooms. There are suites (that can be devided into rooms).
If you are in need for some rest after an exciting tour through Egypt, this is the place. The rooms are perfect, the beach is perfect, the food is perfect, the staff is perfect. | | |
