Fiji was the first stop on our 6 month trip. We had been working very hard and saving every penny in anticipation of this trip so we decided to spoil ourselves and booked ourselves into a resort for a week to get some real relaxation.
After a long flight from London to LA with a 6 hour stopover and then on to Fiji you arrive a little cramped and tired. Stepping off the plane is like walking into a sauna especially after coming from London in December! As you walk into the airport terminal the first thing that you hear is live fijian singers and then the cool airconditioning hits you. What a welcome!! |
|  | We stayed at the Hideaway Resort on Viti Levu island about an hour from the capital Nadi. All we did was lie in the sun, sip cocktails, watch the sun go down and sleep. I thought nothing could compare with an African sunset but as you can see Fiji wins the Oscar!! |
| | We did manage to leave the hotel for one day to take a seaplane to Robinson Crusoe Island, our first time in a seaplane! We had a wonderful day on the island and met some lovely locals. See my travelogue for pics of our day.
One thing that did stand out was that the Fijian accent is very similar to the South African accent - weird!! |
