Rome

by paradisedreamer - last update: May 30, 2003

We were in Rome over an Easter weekend. We arrived on Good Friday and after leaving our bags at the hotel we headed for the colosseum, I had to see it immediately. What we didn’t realise was that the Pope would be giving a speech there that evening. Now I am not a religious person but if it the Pope I’ll hang around. God must have been watching because about an hour before the Pope was to arrive the heavens opened and there was a huge downpour. Some nuns were kind enough to share their umbrella with us and it was a surreal experience standing with all these people huddled under umbrellas. I reckon God was using His way to separate the true believers form the tourists, we were soaked through and freezing so after a valiant effort we too gave up and went of in search of a nice restaurant for dinner instead.
Rome is one of those places you just have to see but take your walking shoes. We did everything on foot which is always the best way to see things. Everything is fairly close by so you don’t really need to use the Metro.
Even the nuns in Rome are Chic.

Enjoyed your Rome pages. Your hotel was in the same area as our Hotel Adler. You might like to see the photo I have on my Rome intro page. It's quite spectacular. As a rookie, I'm still building pages.
