Venice

by paradisedreamer - last update: May 24, 2003

We arrived in Venice by car. You can park at the Tronchetto and get a ferry from there to San Marco. I suggest you get exact directions to your hotel beforehand or you will definitely get lost. We had directions and it still took some time to find it which isn’t fun if you are lugging baggage – even if you have wheels you still have to carry it over all the small bridges (and there are lots of them!)
I was lucky enough to have gone to Venice in winter and in summer and it is hard to say which is better. In winter it is cold but compensated by the lovely mist in the mornings making it very romantic. In summer you have the blue skies and sunshine which highlights the colours of the buildings but the canals can also be very smelly!

Venice photographs beautifully. Our camera was stolen, so I really appreciate your pics. Thanks for helping me to remember.

Great Venice Page! I think I have an almost identical photo of the Grand Canal ; )

Very nice Venice pages with beautiful pics. I was there last month but only for a day. I had a gondola ride and enjoyed it, and as I was with a tour, it only cost me USD 16 and was well worth it. Hope to go back for a proper visit soon.
