Restaurant Name: The Hildebrand

Hildebrand Restaurant has occupied various premises during it's 100-year long history. In 1995, the restaurant took over the historic site it now occupies, at the Pierhead of the V & A Waterfront. Overlooking the Victoria Basin, the restaurant and its function rooms have breathtaking views of the working harbour. The food is outstanding and you will receive good service as well. If it is a nice evening sit outside on the terrace and watch the world go by.

We actually met the couple in the picture on a bus from Singapore to KL. They are from Sweden and we only had a couple of days with them in KL. It was great to meet up with them in Cape Town and catch up.

Restaurant Name: Seafood

The restaurant is just a ramshackle, unpromising looking wharf side shack in Cape Town's commercial harbour. The décor is very basic but the food is excellent.

Favorite Dish: You can choose your own live lobster or abalone from the sea water tanks. They also keep mussels and Namibian oysters alive in the tanks so that you are assured of fresh seafood. The calamari and prawns are also excellent

The food here has been good both times we have eaten here and the prices are also good considering what a tourist spot it is.

Sitting on the terrace the view is amazing.

Restaurant Name: The Africa Cafe

The Africa cafe is a bit of a tourist trap. Don't get me wrong it is worth going, the food is excellent but a little expensive. There is a set menu and the waiters bring various dishes to your table and will bring more of any dish that you really enjoy. You will definitely not leave hungry that is for sure! The dishes are from all over Africa with many interesting flavours.
The waiters and waitresses are beautifully dressed in traditional African clothes with painted faces and the building is brightly painted so you can't miss it!

I prefer this place to the Africa cafe as it seems more authentic to me. They have a wide range of dishes with many different kinds of meat that you can try - Kudu, Springbok, Ostrich etc. The food was very good and service too. They play live music from about 8pm which creates a fantastic atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable.

The Blue Peter is an institution in Blouberg village. It is a big bar with tables outside with magnificent views of Table Mountain. They serve pizzas and other dishes but have the pizza! There is a front lawn where people sit when it is very busy and it also makes it a very kid friendly place. The perfect place for a very chilled Sunday afternoon with friends.

Restaurant Name: Quay Four

Quay Four has a nice setting on the boardwalk at the V & A. In peak season it can get very full especially outside. The food is mainly steaks, burgers and some seafood. Its a good place to meet friends for a quick lunch.

Restaurant Name: Mariners Wharf

There is a more upmarket restaurant upstairs but I have only been to the take away restaurant. The take-away sells all kinds of fish and calamari. The calamari ig good but a little greasy for my tastes. The portions are generous and come with chips for a very reasonable price (around R40). There are tables outside with drop sheets if it is raining.

Restaurant Name: Ons Huisie

This is a very quaint little restaurant run out of an old fishermans house on the beach in Blouberg village. We love coming here on weekends to sit outside and watch life go by. The food is very good and I have heard that breakfasts are excellent (I have yet to try). They do some Cape Malay dishes and very good fish and chips. The coronation chicken salad is very good.
