The Drakensberg Mountains

by paradisedreamer - last update: Jun 11, 2003

The Drakensberg is a large mountain range in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Berg is Afrikaans for mountain.
I have only stayed at Cathedral Peak and I would probably go back there rather than stay somewhere else. There is a wide variety of hikes for all levels of fitness and the hotel has lovely rooms. The food is excellent, breakfast and dinner are buffet style and it is hard not to keep going back for more. There are lots of things to do besides hiking, you could just relax by the pool, play tennis, go horse riding or just relax on your patio. There is even a small chapel so you could even get married there, it is a stunning location.

A great overview of the delights of Cathedral Peak area!! My wife and I loved the Drakensbergs on our 1995 visit and even spent a flying visit to this hotel. All of Kwazulu Natal was amazing!
