The Barrier Reff is 2500km long and is the worlds largest structure made entirely from living organisms, it can also be seen from space with the naked eye. Parts of the coral reef are 18 million years old.

What can I say, anyone who is disappointed with the Barrier Reef needs their head read or tell me where you thought was better!. My husband did his diving course as soon as we arrived and then we set off on a liveaboard for three days and two nights. We went with Down under dive and found it was excellent. We got to meet some lovely people on the boat and did a lot of diving and snorkelling. I found the cabins very claustrophobic so I slept under the stars one night and it was lovely.

The highlight of the trip for me was seeing dolphins (other than in an aquarium) for the first time. As the boat would go from reef to reef the dolphins would swim along the bow. Incredible!!
