As soon as we arrived we dumped our packs and went for a walk and were instantly struck by the warm smiles and friendliness of the people. A man came up to us and my initial thought was ‘ here we go, he wants money’, he simply wanted to try out is English and give us directions. I hate it when I am prejudiced!!
While in Saigon we took a tour of the Mekong Delta and the Cu Chi tunnels both of which were excellent.
We made the big mistake of getting our cyclo driver take us to a typical Vietnamese restaurant and had the worst meal ever, it was horrendous. It put us off Vietnamese food, one thing I must say though is that Saigon has the best Italian food in the world, better than Italy - really!! |

the first time i had my ears 'professionally' cleaned was in vietnam! it feels GREAT! i'd recommend it to anyone, not on the streets however. next time, you shouldn't take the advice of touts or drivers...vietnamese food is great! | jmmorgan Wed Jun 11, 2003 14:30 UTC
I think you had bad luck with that restaurant. Food is one of the reasons i will go back to Vietnam in 2 weeks time. |
