Koh Pha Ngan is to the northeast of Surat Thani, about 20 kilometers from Koh Samui. The west coast if fairly flat while steep cliffs fall to the sea in the east. It is encircled by charming beaches, beautiful bays, and clear waters, with an abundance of coral reefs and marine life. Koh Pha Ngan is probably best known for the Full Moon Party at Hat Rin but the island has so much more to offer. Hat Rin in the south tends to be more livelier and has more bars and restaurants. We chose to stay at Haad Yao in the north west which is quiet and laidback so we could enjoy the best of both.
The main reason to stay on the Western side of the island is to see the brilliant sunsets. As you can see by the travelogues on my homepage I am a sucker for a nice sunset. |
| Bungalows on the North East of the island |
| | You can find accommodation very cheaply on the island and I am sure that there are some resorts now which is a real pity. I am anti high rise hotels, there are so few natural places left. Give me a grass hut witha fan anyday rather than an air-conditioned concrete block. If you want that go to Cancun, leave Paradise as it is. I think my words are falling on deaf ears.......... |
