Calgary is one of my favorite cities. I lived in Calgary from 92 to 95. I visit from time to time when I can. I love the Rockies and the 400 km of bike trails and or pathways. It is one of North America's fastest growing cities. It started growing because of the energy crisis and the oil boom. Now it has many other companies and industries located there. Need a city web site? Go here: http://www.gov.calgary.ab.ca/ Being a Maritimer at heart i find all those fake cowboys and hype over Stampede a bit much. But if you would like to go here is a web address for you: http://www.calgarystampede.com/new99/index.htm The town of Banff is neat but full of tourists and shoppers. Do take the Gondola ride to the top of the mountain nearby. The view is awesome. Nearby Bragg Creek is full of Yuppies now. Although I wish I was part of the land grab to the west when i was there but i lost out. I was not making the big bucks (hehe) before it got trendy to live just 30 minutes from the city limits.I loved having wheels to get out of the city and around it.
|
