'THE DIRTY WEE PORT'

Port Glasgow is on the west coast of Scotland approximatly 25 miles from Glasgow. Situated next to Greenock. It was originally called Newark and still has a castle of this name. The towns name was changed to Port of Glasgow and then later shortened to Port Glasgow the town got this name simply because it was the original port for the city of Glasgow.

We also have the last surving ship yard in the lower clyde Fergusons at least for the moment we have wont have it much longer if those in power dont start doing the job they are paid for.

Regeneration

The Regeneration of Port Glasgow is well underway and great things have been promised but we will see. There is going to be new shopping and leisure opportunities for everyone apparently. It better at least be half as good as the say with the amount upheaval and inconvinence they have caused over recent months.

There won't be any more ice hockey in Prestwick as they have sold the building to a housing company! Thanks for your comment. I will be up your way visiting a friend in Inverclyde Royal on Friday
