We only had a day at the Niagara Falls and we wanted to see as much as possible. So we joined a bus tour that was offered at our hotel. The guide was a hillarious and nice guy who drove us around the american side of Niagara River and explained all the special sites and told us interesting stories about the Falls.
I loved it a lot here. Niagara Falls (USA) is a lovely little town, much nicer than Niagara Falls at the canadien side. We walked over the Rainbow bridge to Canada and found it horrible there! Nothing but tons of people, casinos and souvenir shops. Though the view to the Falls is much better from the canadien side, we prefered the american side with the Niagara Statepark. It's much more quiet and they give more on nature and it's attractions than on making money with casinos, cinemas and minigolf...
A walk through Niagara Falls town has to include a walk over the Rainbow Bridge. You can go by car as well, but the pedestrian way offers you breathtaking views - if you're not afraid of the hight! You cross the Niagara River to Canada in a height of 50 feet (15m) above the surface of the water.
Construction on the Rainbow Bridge began on May 4th 1940 at a site approximately 550 feet (168m) north of the previous Honeymoon Bridge site. At this point the Rainbow Bridge was one thousand (1,000) feet (305m) north of the American Falls. The Niagara Gorge is 200 feet (60m) deep and approximately one thousand (1,000) feet (305m) wide. The water current under this bridge averages 26-30 miles per hour. The water depth is in excess of 175 feet (53m). In one minute it is estimated that six billion (6,000,000,000) pounds of water cross under the Rainbow Bridge.
'''Cave of the Winds''' is no longer a cave. It is a series of walkways that lead to the base of the Bridal Veil Fall, the smallest of the three Niagara Falls. There used to be a Cave but it collapsed. Powerful wind caused by the falling water can be felt, but more important and powerful vibes can be felt. It is the closest you get to the falls without going over.
We did this walk (it was included inour tour) and believe me - it's amazing! If you dare going up to the highest deck - the "Hurricane Deck" you can imagine how it feels being in a hurricane: the wind and the water seems to blow you off the deck and the sounds of the water are extremely loud! You are so close to the falls that you can put your hand into the water! Really amazing!
- Pros:Amazing! Unbelievable! Unforgettable!
- Cons:I don't know any...
- In a nutshell:I couold have spent hours just watching and listening!!!

Hello Petra! You have wonderful tips on this page. I will not be going very soon to Niagara, but i am planning to give my youngest sister a surprise anniversary gift for her and hubby to go there. Your tips are a big help. Thanks.
Wow, it must be amazing to see Niagara Falls with your own eyes... I'd like to go there some day too...
