Baseball Hall-Of-Fame and Museum In this little town not far from NYC, everything is about Baseball. There may be some tourists who come here for the great nature: the woods, the lake, the mountains,... or for doing sports like sailing, swimming, hiking, mountainbiking etc... But I really couldn't find many of them there. Sure, the lake is beautiful and the campgrounds sure are great, but this amazing american sport is spread all over Cooperstown. The main attraction is the Baseball-Museum with the famous Hall-Of-Fame and even in the main street of the town there is one Baseballstore next to the other. You can buy fanarticles as well as antique equipment and you can even let make your own personalized bat! I doubt that you can find any store that doesn't sell Baseball stuff. As being European for me it was a very special experience, because in my country you can hardly find any stuff about Baseball. But here I bought books, souvenirs, shirts, collectables and much more. But of course the best was the time we spent in the Museum. It was sooo great to see Babe Ruth's bat and glove (and even his bowling ball) and so on! |
| | Otsego Lake Cooperstown is located at Lake Otsego. A very beautiful lake 4,200-acre lake that averages 82 feet deep and has a maximum depth of 165 feet. Its shoreline is largely developed and includes Cooperstown on the south end. Spawned by Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, the shallow Susquehanna River wiggles through south-central New York, providing canoe anglers with 150 miles of quiet pools and gentle runs punctuated by low-adventure riffles. Formed in 1907 by a dam on the Susquehanna River, the 370-acre Goodyear Lake averages 14 feet deep and has a maximum depth of 30 ... It surely is a paradise for fishing, sailing, rafting and other water sports as well as hiking and mountainbiking in the large woods. |
