My kind of town

by PetraG - last update: Jan 16, 2006

Architecture

Chicago from the Sears-Tower
It is as Frank Sinatra always used to say: "New York is a great city, but Chicago is the town I love!"

I had the same feelings when I came here. Chicago offers everything a big city should offer, but hasn't lost it's atmosphere and flair.

For me as an architecture-lover this town offered a lot to see. Don't miss the architectural boat cruise on Chicago River! It's an amazing experience!
Wrigley Field Chicago

Baseball

Don't miss a Baseball game when visiting Chicago. Everyone here is mad about this sport. The city is divided in two parts: the Cubs fans (the majority) and the White Sox fans (I belong to them!). You have to visit both stadiums - they are so completely different! Wrigley field (Cubs) is an old, small and traditional field. Very charming, but a bit uncomfortable...
US Cellular Field (White Sox) is a big, modern Complex that offers a lot to do and see. There are shops, food courts and much more.
Watching a game is a great experience in either of them!

Lake Michigan

This is a really impressing lake. Larger than any lake I've seen before. You can walk along for hours having breathtaking views of the Chicygo skyline, visit the Observatory to learn interesting facts about stars and planets or the Navy Pier for some hours of fun and entertainment.
Walking along the sand-beaches (artificial) you feel like being at the sea. You feel the sand between your toes and cannot see the other side of the lake (and the waves are very high, too). I had to taste the water a few times to make sure not being at the sea! He He He!

Pros:"Amazing architecture, friendly people, lovely atmosphere"
Cons:"The weather can be very surprising!"
In A Nutshell:"The place I would choose to live in, if I could!"
