The St. Marks-square is the most famous place in Venice. Here you can see very famous buildings and monuments like the Campanile (tower), the Palazzo Ducale (Doges palace) and the Basilica San Marco (St. Marks cathedral). The place is surrounded by a building that keeps a museum on the first floor and (very expensive) shops and coffee-shops on the ground floor. It's nice to sit down watch the millions of tourists playing with the thousands of doves, but be sure you can afford to drink a coffe there!

This extraordinary cathedral reminds somehow on a turkish or jewish church. It has 5 domes that are marshaled as a cross. I'm sure the inside is beautiful, too, though I've never seen it. The tourist queue has always been much too long!!!

The Doges palace is the best example for Venetian architecture. I could look at it for hours! All the little ornaments, pattern, columns,... really extraordinary!

The Campanile is the famous tower on St. Marks place. You should absolutely go up by elevator (it's quite cheap). It offers you great views, by day as well as by night!

The Grand Chanel is the "mainstreet" of Venice. Hundrest of boats, ferries and gondolas go there every day. There are three big bridges leading over it One of them is the famous Rialto bridge. Along the Grand Chanel you can admire the most beautiful buildings of Venice (called "case"). I absolutely recommend you to do a ride along the Grand Chanel once by day and once by night. You'll see, it's a totally different atmosphere...
