December 2007 I love this place and wish I could visit more often. This is not the NYC of the late 80s when I used to live on Long Island. There is no pace on Earth like NYC and it just keeps getting better.
Still the best city to go in the USA for all out fun and ease of getting around. Very expensive unless you are prepared to seek out the cheaper places. I learned a lot from my taxi driver on the way BACK to JFK. He told me where you can get pizza for $1 a slice in Manhattan etc. Oh well next time. Be prepared to spend $25-50 a day for food and drinks in Manhattan if you are not going to be picky. |
Marathon This was my first marathon and what a great to begin my long distance career. The crowds were amazing and so supportive, even in the poor areas. If you are a runner this is THE place to run a marathon. The temperatures will be cool in November. The course is not flat but it's not Boston either. Jus try not to overdo it the day before with the sughtseeing and expo. |
Central Park - for Runners and walkers Try to get a hotel near the park. The last two times I wa sthere I stayed near the park and was rewarded with great running trails. The day before the marathon it was exciting to see some of the top contenders out "jogging". |
