Believed by some to be the Lost Island of Atlantis. White houses, blue painted doors, lots of cats, yellow porch furniture. The sea is visible at all times. Town is atop the cliffside. Descend the cliff by cable car.....OR donkey for the more adventurous!! Santorini consists of the group of Islands around the perimeter of the Cauldron, the remains of an ancient volcanic eruption which left bits of land in a circle around the resulting crater which is beneath the sea. The crater is continually being refilled by land and is expected to re-appear above the waters in the future, thereby connecting all the islands once again to become one large island.
