Laura's Travels

by highlandlaura - last update: Jul 18, 2009

Travel, MY Way!

Red Square after 2 nights no sleep!
After 1 night on the train from Kiev to Moscow, 1 night killing cockroaches in the Rossia Hotel, we still couldn't sleep on the tour bus! Too much to see in Moscow! Another tourist loaned us these pillows to sleep on the bus!
Seaside, Florida, Dec 2007

Journeys

TRAVEL PLANS:
AUG, 2009: KNOXVILLE
Oct, 2009: SEATTLE
NOV 2009: QUEBEC
2010: ITALY

Someone once said, 'Travel presents a series of obstacles to be overcome'. Those obstacles can make your trip that much more fun!
My new book, "Travel, MY Way", is in print now! If you'd like to know more, please email me with questions. It will soon be available on the Amazon website plus my personal website. SEE MY TRAVELOGUE ON MY IRELAND PAGE, PLUS SOME WATER COLOR PAINTINGS. Life is all about The Journey. Travel is about learning and meeting people. I play professional celtic harp, piano, guitar and fiddle, I play and sing a variety of musical styles: Celtic, classical jazz, classical piano, pop music, club jazz, opera, folk songs, Irish and Scottish dance music and songs. I teach music and write. Personality type: INFP, (you might know what that means!) an artistic temperament. I love meeting people and living in other people's shoes - seeing how others live. What I love about travel is the outdoors and the people: the history, the landscape, the architecture. My visit to Ireland was to visit Cousin Vallery, who was a student at Ulster University in Derry, Northern Ireland. Planning trips to Ireland, England, Canada, Florida, Seattle and Knoxville.

Inch Beach

Beach on the Dingle Peninsula, Ireland
Tea Time in Bath

Tea Time

Tea Time at the Guesthouse in Bath, England I love a good cup of tea and make it every day of the year. Love it brewed in the pot!
Barnard Castle Ruins

England

My favorite spot in England: the Yorkshire Dales! James Herriot Country! I met him on one of my visits. This is my original water color of Barnard Castle ruins, County Durham, in the North of England. When I travel I feel like a Time Traveler. I imagine I'm living in the time of different literary characters. I view everything from that perspective. I take on a role from a novel, from a Dorothy Sayers or Liza Cody, or John Mortimer. I can be Anna Lee, Girl Detective, or Lord Peter Wimsey, Noble Sleuth, or Phillada Erskine-Brown, fellow-barrister of Rumpole of the Bailey, or Harret Pringle of Fortunes of War, or a character of the Cadfael era.
Galway, Early Music Harper and Laura

Ireland

With French harper in Galway.
Full Irish Breakfast

Ireland, Full Irish Breakfast

FULL IRISH BREAKFAST: 2 eggs, 2 rashers bacon, 2 sausages, grilled tomato & mushrooms, oatcake, toast, black & white puddings (fried balls of bread, black version contains pig's blood), butter, marmalade, juice, tea, may include oatmeal porridge or corn flakes! You need a real boost for the day's touring ahead! A real Farmer's breakfast if you have a full day on the farm. Here we have Myself, Roni and Linda with a full Irish Breakfast in County Tyrone. Plumbridge, where we spent 3 nights in a large apartment above Glenelly's Bar.
Santorini Patio

Santorini Patio

Water Color of Santorini Patio, Greek Island. Santorini is one of the Greek Islands. Part of the rim of the Cauldron resulting from an ancient volcanoe which left islands above water in a circular pattern. The central land-mass is now beneath the ocean, but is expected to rise again someday. Thought by some to be the ancient Atlantis. Santorini is decorated with beautiful white and colorful cliffside dwellings. After a day walking the town center, you will need to return to the shore and your ship by either cable car or donkey! A rugged cliffside path descends to the shore.
