Cairo from My Point of View

by Beograd - last update: Jan 14, 2004

My Dream Came True

I've always dremt of visiting Egypt and the famous pyramids. I lived my dream, but for a very short time. I've spent only two days in Cairo and that is not enough time for this city of 16-20 mill. residents. The contrast between luxury and poverty is enormous and unbeliveable! From "Le Merridien Pyramids" hotel to The City of the Dead you can see that difference. But what most cities lack is what Cairo has, and that is a SOUL!

You feel unbeliveable safe in this city, because the police is everywhere. But don't get carried away!

With Cairo in The Distance

I really loved the pyramids! So, I'll just share another pic of this sort with you.

You can see Cairo in the distance. For all of you who believe that pyramids are deep in the desert, they are not. It surprised me! But also amazed....

I've been talking to someone recently (I can't remember who was it) and that person camo to a conclusion that in a couple of hundreds of years, they will be in the centre of Cairo, for it's growing...

Traffic

The traffic in Egypt in whole, and especially in Cairo, is unbeliveable. The way people drive is beyond european imagination. They will never stop for the pedestrian to cross the street unless you already are in the middle of it, and even then you must be quick! But the good thing is that police is literaly everywhere and they are willing to help if necessary.

Lovely page, Nina! It was a pleasure going virtually back to this city I really love. And Maadi Hotel is worth staying in at least for the view of the Pyramids from the 7th floor. Greetings! Diana
