These two statues represent Amenophis III, and they are all that's left from the biggest temple in the New Kingdome. Initially, they used to make very nice sounds thanks to wind, but later, when some cracks were found on them and repaired, they never produced music again. Still, they are beautiful and enormous.

After seeing Colossi of Memnon, our next stop was at the temple of queen Hatshepsut. The only women Pharao. After her husbands death, she ruled over Egypt for 12 years like a man, wearing a false beard. On many drawings and on sphinx that is being kept in "National Museum" in Cairo, she is represented as a man. Queen Hatshepsut had many enemies that tried to ruin every one of the monuments she built or was dedicated to her. A friend of mine told me that the first thing she heared about this place is that some tourist were murdered nearby. That is not what you should think of while being there. Listen to what your guide has to tell you about historical importance of this woman and her temple.

This is one of the pictures in Hatshepsut temple in it's original colors. It is unbveliveable how it managed to stay on the wall looking so fresh after about 5000 years, dontt you think so?

Luxor area is famous for alabaster, so make sure you don't miss an alabaster shop. There are many of them and those are mostly small family shops. You can find interesting things, but there is a great difference between a hand craft and machine work. It isn't difficult to see that difference. There is the same shopping rule as anywhere else in Egypt: BARGAIN. I bought a copy of a famous Nefertiti figure and paid about 10 LE (1 EUR = cca 7 LE). The initial price was something like 60-80 LE. You have to be a good negotiator.
In front of the store we visited, men were sitting and making items in alabaster. They were also giving us "crude" alabaster in exchange for some "baksheesh". Take it! It's really cheap and yet a nice souvenir.

Before you enter the temple of Karnak, the only thing that goes through your mind is: "O.k. it has it's value, of course. But it's not something as impressive as The Pyramids!" But that is where you are very wrong!

At the entrance, sit many sphinx that used to connect Luxor temple and Karnak temple. That road was 3 km’s long, and sphinx guarded it all the way. A great number of those sphinx were lost during all the milleniums of history, but there are still some remained at the temple, and a few in Cairo in The National Museum.

There are so many things to be seen in the temple. I can’t even remember all the things I saw there during those two hours we spent in. I’ll always remember feeling… hmmm… how to say?... Like I was a disturbance… An intruder… Still, I wouldn’t miss it for a world! Explore it yourself. Enjoy every second of it. In time, you’ll feel more and more attracted to this temple.

Karnak temple was dedicated to Amun Raa the superior God of Sun. You have to look at it as a pearl with many shielts, and every one better than the other. In the first circle you enter, everyone was allowed to come. IN the second, only the nobles… And finally in the last one, only the pharao and high priest were allowed to enter.

What I liked the most, was a Hipostile hall. All those pillars in their enormous height… Frightening and divine… With symbols and pictures carved on them… Just look at it!
