Puerto Nuevo is popularly known for its restaurants, which feature local lobster served with rice, beans, and fresh handmade tortillas. According to one website, over a million lobsters are served annually to the visitors who come here from all over Baja, the States, and beyond. Hence, this place is more popularly referred to as "Lobster Village". This is especially a favorite of San Diegan's who need only drive south of the border (less than an hour from downtown S.D). From Rosarito, it's only a 15 minute's drive down the coastline, which makes it a great side trip after a long weekend of partying. In addition to the 30+ restaurants in Puerto Nuevo, there are also little shops and arts and crafts stores to occupy the visitor. |
| | Lobster season is from October thru March. During this time, the village will celebrate its annual Beer & Lobster Fest and the Steak & Lobster Fest, which both takes place on Avenida Renterķa, the village's main drag. |
