the autopass card... - Singapore

the autopass card...

Driving A Malaysian Car Into Singapore

You can drive a Malaysian (or any foreign) registered car into Singapore thru the JB Causeway or the Tuas Second Link... There are 2 fees to be paid for driving and using your Malaysian registered car in Singapore... ie you will have to pay tolls and the vehicle entry permit (VEP)... In order to pay these fees, you will be issued with a Autopass card the first time you enter Singapore at the point of entry... The Autopass card is then valid for 5 years... At the entry point, the Autopass card is issued at SGD10 with only SGD4 usable while SGD6 is for administrative charges... The Autocash card can be topped up at any 7-Eleven outlet in Singapore or many shops in the Woodland area... Toll is collectable when arriving or existing the Tuas checkpoint...and only upon exit at the Woodland-Causeway checkpoint...

VEP is chargeable at SGD20 per day when the car is in Singapore... However, no VEP is charged for Malaysian cars entering Singapore on Saturdays, Sundays and Singapore Public Holidays... There is also a 10-days free VEP for each calender year... No VEP is also charged for cars entering Singapore after 5pm and leaving before 2am (the following morning) from Mondays to Fridays...

Drivers of Malaysian cars are also to note that if you enter an Electronic Road Pricing zone (ERP) which covers mainly the major expressways and roads leading into the city centre, you will have to pay ERP charges... However, for cars with Autopass card, a flat rate of SGD5 per day is chargable for unlimited entry and exit to/from the ERP zone... If you do not want to pay the fixed charge (of SGD5 per day), you can opt to rent an In-Vehicle Unit (IU) and have it installed in your car...
