The Golf Club, Datai Bay

The Golf Club Datai Bay is nestle between the mountain and the sea. Set at the foothills of Gunung Mat Chinchang, the 5,994m 18-holes par-72 course is surrounded by a millions of years old rain forest with the Andaman Sea to the east. The fairways are set into between the forest with many variety of trees lining them... It is cool and pleasant round of golf...

The 1st Nine plays to 2,997m from the blue tees... while the 2nd Nine plays to 2,997m as well... For those who cannot settle their betting scores after the regular 18 holes, there is the dead heat hole#19 to settle the score... hole#19 is a par 3 scenic hole by the sea and is the club's signature hole...

The green fees of RM350 per golfer (inclusive of buggy) is rather stiff for a Malaysian course... Senior citizens above 50 years are charged RM200 for a round of 18-holes golf... The same charges are applicable for weekdays and weekends play...

Equipment: The clubhouse is a basic single storey free-standing building that blends into the forest setup... There are both men and ladies changing rooms, a golfers terrance and a pro shop run by Pan West...

Address: Jalan Teluk Datai, Langkawi

Directions: The club is on the way to Datai and Andaman Resorts...

Gunung Raya Golf Resort

The 18-holes par-72 course is designed by Max Wexler and is located on the foothills of the Gunung Raya...the rather short course measures 5,879m from the blue tees... with the 1st Nine at 2,828m and the 2nd Nine at 3,015m... The 1st Nine is rather flat while is 2nd Nine is more undulating with water coming into play at many holes...

The green fees at RM200 per golfer and RM30 per shared buggy is a bit expensive... Charges are applicable on both weekdays and weekends... The course is open 7-days a week...

Equipment: The club has a rather well equipped pro shop... There are also the upgraded male and lady changing room...

Address: Jalan Air Hangat, Kisap, 07000 Pulau Langkawi

Directions: The resort is on the road from Kuah to Tanjung Rhu, about 10km from Kuah town...
