Göreme, situated in the Turkish region of Cappadoccia (Kapadokya), is a small village surrounded by the most beautiful landscape of rock formations I have ever seen. |
| | The village has one main road with offshoots to residential areas and hotels. The actual village offers amazing houses (carved out of the rock formations), night-life (see nightlife tips), and some fabulous views from the higher points. |
I visited Göreme for 3 weeks while in Turkey in summer 2002. At this time I was in Turkey for just over two months. See my other Turkish pages for details of other areas.
My second visit was in 2007. Not much has changed, except that the bus fare between Antalya and Göreme has increased massively. It will now cost you 35 TL (about £14) one-way (In 2002 it was 12 million, about £5). I would recommend the Metro bus company; they were more comfortable than the other company we used. | | |
