Thoughts about the E.U. by Sourbugger

Impossible Jigsaw ? Like the E.U ?
Brussels is of course at the centre of the European Union (E.U) and politicians talk about the ‘European family’. I was thinking about this whilst visiting Brussels recently and realised how true it is.

A family consists of may disparate parts, and there is always one relative (Belgium) who insists on getting everybody to meet up together. Of course like all families there is always celebrations when the family comes together for a big event (Treaty of Rome, Maastricht) or a a marriage , although the wedding of East and West Germany was a bit on the dodgy side - with them being so closely related.

Families also of course take an interest in the affairs of neighbours, especially divorces and quarrels (Czech and Slovak parted recently whilst the Yugoslav family nearly self destructed.)

Some Family members are of course quite reluctant to join in (U.K) and don’t seem to want to share (The Euro) whilst others are just that bit too keen (Luxembourg)

The family makes its decisions by incessant talking and arguing (European parliament), but everyone just about manages to put up with each other in the end. After all those family quarrels in the 20th century - we can’t really grumble.

Ryanair's advertising finds it's level....

I was actually quite disappointed with the art Nouveau trail in Brussels, apart from Horta's House. This is one of my favourite cities but only in December.

Nice intro text on the "European family". Also this is the first time I have seen a hotel room described in terms of Kylie Minogue. Too bad you couldn't go into the musical instruments museum -- it's one of the best I've seen.
