Enniskillen is one of those places one associates with terrible events.

The bombing of the Armistice day parade in 1987 left 11 dead.

It was therefore a plesant surprise to find a pleasingly vibrant little town that has gained hugely from the 'peace dividend'.

The town is actually an 'island town' surrouded on all sides by water.

This means there is alot of boating / canoeing activity in the summer (i didn't see much in Februrary).

It also makes for a good place for a stroll. The castle with two seperate turrets looked impressive, although on this trip I didn't get time to visit.

Interesting to note that the Clinton Center is named after Bill Clinton [of course, with your humor you added Monica LOL]. The War Memorial was a history lesson for me, and I also enjoyed the Cole Monument tip. Well written.

Good that sometimes such terrible events lead to peace... Funny, I did not know that euro can be used in this part of the UK :)))

Very thought provoking page SB. Must be similar visiting places like Dunblane etc.
