"Paris in 2 days" Paris by geanster

Okay, this was kind of a preview of Paris, I wouldn't qualify it as a trip. But it was taste enough to realize how incredibly beautiful it is here. My friend and I arranged our flight to Africa to stop the day in Paris on the way to and from so it gave me a preview of the city. We did alot of walking and even though we didn't go through the Louvre, etc. just being in the city was enough for me. The beautiful buildings, the gardens, the beautiful people...

Notre Dame

We spent much of the first few hours trying to get our ragamuffin state to disappear and finding a locker in which to store our carry-on's. Wouldn't you know that Charles de Gaule airport no longer has lockers? (At least it didn't when we were there. They'd taken them out around 9/11) So we bought our all day train passes and jumped on a train to Gard Norde station where they DO have lockers.

Eventually we found our way to Notre Dame despite the Parisians attempt to confuse foreigners with their train system/signs. After ND, we sat at a cafe on the side of an alleyway where we had the most stereotypical french waiter. I decided they must pay a stranger to help promote the "atmosphere" because every fifteen minutes, without fail, some man would come along down the street and clap our waiter on the shoulders and kiss his cheeks and seem as though they were the oldest of friends.

Seine Bridge

We then found ourselves wandering through the Gardens of Luxembourg where while making eye contact with an extremely handsome fellow, I stumbled. What made it bearable was that our eye contact never broke for a second and he was kind enough not to even flinch until I started laughing and he cracked up. I did a courtsey for his friends and carried on. :) Would you believe it could be difficult to find the Eiffel Tower? Well, it was. Opposite side of town apparently. And by the time we glimpsed it across the river Seine, it was time to find our way back to the airport...
