Ravenna is well known because of it's old mosaics. 1500 years ago, Ravenna was the capital 3 times: of the Western Roman Empire, of Theodoric, King of the Gods and of the Byzantine Empire in Europe.
Those periods left a fantastic heritage of monuments in the city, religious buldings decorated with amazing mosaics which have been declared patrimony of humanity by UNESCO.
The art of mosaics didn't born in Ravenna, but it found it's greatest level of expression here.*

Pros and Cons

Pros:Wonderful mosaics, really amazing ones!!!!
Cons:Very humid and hot during Summer.
