I initially moved to the Netherlands on a whim. It seemed perfect, a job offer, no obligations, so off I went. I have now lived in Amsterdam since 2000, and well, in many ways it has become home.

I will try to let you know about activities and places that may not be in every tour book, and maybe come up with some suggestions of things you can do in the Netherlands that are "off the beaten path".

(This may be hard though, since some of the tour books these days are very good).

Meanwhile, enjoy reading about this city of canals, cafés, houseboats, and circular streets.

Pros and Cons

Pros:beautiful spring and summer, biertje on a patio, canals, bicycles everywhere
Cons:rainy drab winters, flat flat flat
