After almost 20 years travellers can once again visit the beautiful pennisuela of Jaffna. Jaffna is situated on the northen tip of Sri Lanka and has a predominently Tamil population. The locals of Jaffna are indeed wonderful and friendly people and making a trip to this beautiful part of Sri Lanka should be a priority on anyones travel plan.

You can reach Jaffna either by land or air. The latter being the most convenient way. The flight is just under one hour and is quite enjoyable as the plane does not travel at too high an altitude.

If anyone is interested in travelling to Jaffna please do contact me and I will be more than willing to share my travel tips and ideas. Transport within Jaffna can also be arranged.

I was fortunate to visit Jaffna in 1974. Now that the situation has changed in Lanka, it might be good to post some updates as to whether it's possible to travel here and what the conditions are, etc.

Nice page, you live in such a beautiful place. My grandfather was in this area of Sri Lanka for years in the 1940s & has wonderful memories of his time here. Well done (~_~)
