To the place of Beren - on the trail of Tolkien A few days in june 2004 brought me finally to the place of the author of one of the most beloved books of the 20th century: The Lord of the Rings. I mean of course Oxford where JRR Tolkien spend the biggest part of his life. The most moving moment for me was of course when I reached Tolkien's grave (and that of his wife Edith) at Wolvercote Cemetery in the North of Oxford. On the tombstone was written, under their names, Luthien and Beren. As some know Tolkien's eldest son John died in 2003. He is buried just across the little path that leads to Tolkiens grave. It's the only grave on that side and John's tombstone is set in the same kind of stone as his father's and mother's. Interested in Tolkien related pictures and the place where he spend most part of his life. Just look at some of the pics I put up from my visit to Tolkien's Oxford. | | | grave of J.R.R. | | Enjoy the Silence Words like violence Break the silence Come crashing in Into my little world Painful to me Pierce right through me Can’t you understand Oh my little girl
All I ever wanted All I ever needed Is here in my arms Words are very unnecessary They can only do harm
Vows are spoken To be broken Feelings are intense Words are trivial Pleasures remain So does the pain Words are meaningless And forgettable
All I ever wanted All I ever needed Is here in my arms Words are very unnecessary They can only do harm
Enjoy the silence (Depeche Mode) |
