I'd planned on three days in Gonder. Because of the problem mentioned on my main Ethiopia page, I left after just a day and a half. I did experience some of the color and excitement of timkat, the Ethiopian Orthodox epiphany.
As they were in Addis Ababa, the people of Gonder were friendly and helpful. And despite the brevity of my stay, I did get a sense of the glories of this fascinating city.
