A city with everything | Lia: 'Cidade Maravilhosa' |
Rio de Janeiro has everything: world–class as well as good quality budget hotels and restaurants; sun, warmth, and great beaches; a vibrant cultural life; a spectacular setting; and man–made wonders.
Yes, it also has poverty, slums (favelas), and crime — but these rarely intrude on a visitor's experience. The painting in the photograph is the work of Lia Mittarakis Meneses (1934–98). It measures 400x700cm and is located in the Museu Internacional de Art Naïf do Brasil (MIAN). |
