"Jaipur" Jaipur by NedHopkins
Jaipur Travel Guide: 1,034 reviews and 3,073 photos
The Hawa Mahal is Jaipur's trademark structure. Just one room deep, the five-story building once allowed the ruler's wives and concubines to see the passing parade without being seen.
The capital of Rajasthan state, Jaipur has many interesting sights -- the City Palace, Jantar Mintar, and the nearby Amber Palace among them -- as well as good hotels and restaurants.
The topography -- except for the closeness of high hills -- and the climate reminded me of those in California's central valley.
- Pros:Interesting sights, proximity to Delhi and Agra
- Cons:Dirty (though no dirtier than Delhi or Agra)
- In a nutshell:Worth visiting
