Restaurant Name: Salsitas

Stylish and trendy, this restaurant excells in the key areas of quality and ambience. The setting is a surrealist delight with its white stone palm trees and very modern feel. The menu is not extensive but offers a good selection, with such starters as Ox carpacio and tuna sashimi, as well as more tame offerings such as the green garden salad with "small contrasts". Main courses include the wonderful duck preserve with chestnuts in port, sea bass with star anise sauce, and other sumptious wonders of culinary pleasure. For desert you have to try the mango tatin with cardamoms. the price works out about 30 to 40 euros per head with drinks. Well worth it!

Favorite Dish: I loved the big lumps of raw tuna - great.

A tradition in much of Spain and very active in Barcelona is the "menu del dia", a lunchtime eating option whereby you get a selection of 3 plates for each course, and pay a fixed price of about 7-9 euros. Unbeatable for value, this is the entire working populations choice for lunchtime munchtime. It means the owners can buy a more limited supply of food and you can pretty much know it is fresh.
