"Wonderland of Other-worldly Rock Spires" Pinnacles National Monument by gordonye

Pinnacles National Monument Travel Guide: 22 reviews and 115 photos

Commonly called the Pinnacles, these rocks are eroded remnants of an ancient volcano, featuring hundreds of rounded spires with grainy surfaces. The rocks offer endless hidden nooks for scrambling and exploration. They remind me of fairytale landscapes full of wonder and surprises. The Pinnacles are also a favorite hangout for raptors, cliff-nesting birds and other wildlife. The pinnacles are located about 2 hours drive south of San Francisco.
