This is my favorite part of California, beside being one of the most beautiful places on earth, it is ecologically rich, with also a rich history, beautiful architecture, and ample outdoor recreation opportunities. The beaches are magnificent, Point Lobos is enchanting, the mountains of Big Sur are incredible. John Steinbeck based his many novels on the Monterey area, one of which is "East of Eden" (also a hollywood movie). Eden it is.
- Pros:nature, architecture, history, ecology, outdoors recreation
- Cons:Expensive, threatened by overdevelopment of luxury mansions

Feb 7 people know their coastlines, eh? I could just sit on one of these cliffsides for hours, watching the waves crash on the rocks below, absolutely mesmerizing! East of Eden is my favorite of the three Dean films, btw...
