This house is located in La Manzana de la Discordia ( Manzana means both "apple" and "block" in Spanish). They are three houses on this block designed by three different modernist styles, hence the very different styles. Gauidi was hired to remodel the house. He added a 5th floor and decorate the facade with colored glass fragments. Like many of Gauidi's work, religious symbols were included . Note the tri-dimensional cross on the roof. Gauidi wanted a cross that could be seen from any anlge you looked at the house not only the front.

This is one of Gaudi's greatest works and one the last he compleated before he devoted to La Sagrada Familia. It is an apartment block were none of the walls in the construction are straight and at the time it caused many critisim and ridiculed of the majority average society of Barcelona. One of the biggest attractions is an unsual array of Chimneys in the roof of the house that locals used to refer as the dancing evil witches.
In 1984, UNESCO classified Casa Milà as a World Heritage site.

Gaudi wanted a free plan design. The building rest in structure of pillars and has no internal low-wall. It was said that Gaudi did not want to impose any lay out to the owner. Apartments are airy, spacious, and with a lot of light coming in.

The Columbus monument is located at the bottom of Las Ramblas by the shore. It is supposed to mark the spot where Columbus stepped ashore in 1943 after discovering America. Coming from South America this represents a very symbolic point.... I can remember when I was in primary school and we had to learn about Columbus trip in "La Nina, La Pinta, y La Santa Maria".... When the Old World met the New World.

After a long walk trough the city, all those monuments, the museums, and some shoping.... entering La Boqueria feels like going through heavens doors.
Fresh fruits, mostly fruits and vegetables. If you are looking for some international typical food or specific ingredients, this is the place where to come.
I did with a huge bag of datiles... yummi!

Another colorful masterpiece of Gaudi. He was commision in 1890 by Eusebi Guell to design this huge family estates. Unfortunately the idea was not well receive by the oligarchs at the time, in part by it's remote location. Only two of the sixty houses planed were built. Later the municipality bought the property to turn it into a public space area.
An incredible place to spend an afternoon.

I am the clasical example of someone who is always in a rush. I remember once in Miami a security guard at the building I worked stop me and ask: " Excuse me, but why is it that you are always running in your way out?" and I instinctively answered " Because if not I will be late. " and he reply: "Late where?" and I had no answer.
The nature of my job demands precision down to the second, and probably that has repercuted in my personal life. But lately I try to take life easy... very few things are really worth being in stress...

With more than 30 museums, I am sure everyone will find something to suit their interests. Taking the tour bus will allow you the flexibility to access some of the museums in the Montjouic area (up the hill). From historic to modern art, the city has them all.

I haven't been to Paris yet, so for me this is the first Arc of Triumph. Originally not in the plan, but while waiting for our bus to depart we decided to go and explore more of Eixample.
