  • This place is a lot of fun if you enjoy shopping. All of the stores are Mega-versions of the same store anywhere else. The car dealerships all have concepts cars too, and other things to entertain you. A couple of them have cafes. McDonalds has CD listening stands so you can listen to the latest french music while you are there. You choose from a few CD's and listen at your own pace. I listened to a great French hip-hop album while I was waiting for my husband to get the food. It was a very long line so I heard most of the CD.

  • The Eiffel Tower should be seen at day and at night. The photos of Eiffel at night do not do it justice at all, something about the lighting makes photos look totally different than what it really looks like. When you go in evening, take a picnic with you. You will see when you get there that the grass is all covered with Parisians picnicing, so find a spot for your blanket (we took our beach towels) and sit and enjoy the atmosphere and the view.

  • Shopping at Printemps was overwhelming, it was so big that I was exhausted before I had even done anything yet. I did buy a couple of things, but it was not much fun. I would recommend Champs Elysee for shopping and other than that, just pop into little boutiques and stores when you see them.

  • I would not go especially just to see this, but I would recommend coming here in the evening when you areready for dinner. Check out the cool building, then find a restaurant on the street across from it. We loved Hippo, which is a chain restaurant in France. Behind the Opera, about a block back, are the two main department stores. I don't personally recommend them, but you should just pop in to see how overwhelming they are. Also on the same street as Hippo, close to the Opera, is a Tex-Mex restaurant that was a welcome change from the type of food that we were having every night. Then, after dinner, go and sit on the steps and just people-watch. Watch the people hanging out, the shady characters slinking around, and watch your wallet too. But there always seems to be something going on around there if you just sit the city will entertain you for a while.

Directions: Opera metro stop, when you get off it is right behind you so you can't miss it.

  • I thought that versailles was very nice but I was not crazy about it. The gardens did not seem that pretty, so I didn't go (the beating sun and the fact the the gardens offer no shade at all had a lot to do with my decision.) It was interesting to hear the story of Versailles from a tour guide whose group I was hanging around, so I recommend tagging along next to a tour group. My husband on the other hand loved it, so I would say it is worth it to go and interesting and pretty, but don't have such high expectations, just expect to see an extremely opulent place with amazing paintings all overthe walls. I don't think that I will go back, but I think it's a one-time must-see. Somehow my pictures look more amazing than I remembered it to be so here is one.

Directions: Take a train to it. I don't remember the details.
