It is believed
Saxon settlers arrived in the area between 1213 1235.
Being very close to
Prejmer and to
Brasov, it is reasonable to assume all shared common events - same invadors, same plaques and natural catastrophies.
However, the inhabitants of Harman were not so lucky as the ones of
Prejmer or
Rasnov, whose fortresses were conquered only once throughout history.
The locality was first mentioned in a document in 21st of march 1240, according to which the Hungarian King Bela the IV donates the church of Harman (aka Mons Mellis), with all its belongings and incomes, to the Burgundian monastery from Citeaux, belonging to the Cistercian order.
1552 the fortress besieged without success by the Moldavian ruler Stefan Tomsa
1593 and 1600 fires destroy different parts of the village
1602 the Valachian ruler Radu Voda occupies the fortress, fortess partly destroyed
1603 the imperial army of G. Basta conquers the village and fortress
1612 unsuccessful besiege of Gabriel Bathory
