Vienna maintains the flavour and romantism of an imperial capital, at least in the centre surrounded by the Ringstrasse. Notwithstanding that, it seemed pretty dynamic and modern to me, and amazingly pragmatic, given the country is so small.

Since student's time, when most of my travel throughout Europe was done by train, Vienna was on the crossroads of my journeys. No matter I spent I few hours between the trains, or a few days visiting some friends, I got to learn the city step by step: from the Belvedere castle to Schonbrunn, from Karls Kirche to Stephans’ Dome and further east to the Danube and the TV tower, from small pubs in Grinzig to the open air summer concerts in front of the Rathaus (town hall).
