Being the capital of delaware is Dover's is not the only claim to fame for this small city. It is also the home of Dover Air Force Base and Dover Downs, with harness racing and where NASCAR visits twice a year, and ten nationally recognized Museums.

It is hard to believe that if you drive about an hour north.. or west, you will be in some of the most populated areas of the United States. Yet, in Dover and the rest of Delaware, it is like an oasis from the madness. A great place to call home while also providing easy access to Washington D.C, Baltimore, and Philadephia. In addition to the cities, 30 miles south are some of the nices beaches in the Northeast of the U.S.

Downtown Dover

Dover, which dates back to the 1600s, features both Colonial and Victorian architecture, with beautifully restored businesses and private residences. The historic Green and Loockerman Street are great places for strolling or shopping

Pros and Cons

Pros:NO SALES TAX :) Small town, safe, quiet, close to the major cities
Cons:Not much of a nightlife, beach and Raceday traffic
In a nutshell:A quiet town, close to the action in the cities and beaches

The Golden Fleece tavern has been reopened in a new location. 132 w loockerman- just around the corner from the original location. It is a great pubarhat has a colonial flair. A very classy little pub.

Definitely take the (too-low) 25 mph speed limits in Dover & surrounding areas seriously. The cops have nothing better to do than give out tickets. It really is the thing that bugs me the most about living here!
