Ok.. the main reason to go to Benidorm is not to see historic sites.. not to indulge yourself into the spanish culture...not to practice your Spanish.....NO... it is to go to the beach during the day and enjoy the action at night which can vary from numerous nightclubs and discos to more family oriented fun. Benidorm is for vacations and not a vacation that is more exhausting than work :)
Once in a while we all need "just" a vacation and Benidorm can fit that need.
Benidorm has great hotels.. large clean beaches and of course a crystal clear sea. Speaking of the sea... hmm, I made the mistake of not realizing that just because you can see the bottom...does not mean you should attempt to dive down to it. :) I was on a sail boat and saw something shiny on the bottom of the sea...soooo I thought what the heck I will swim down and see what it was. Dove down.. got to the bottom and found it was a glass light fixture off of a luxury boat. Pretty cool.. until I looked up and my sail boat looked like a dot at the surface. hmm, no air.. on the bottom of the sea, Panic? me?.. of course haha. I definitely made great time getting back to the surface.. in fact my friend said I looked like a dolphin as I broke the surface.....it was a loooonnnngggg way from the bottom haha.
Spain was great. I have been there various times. Mostly visited Madrid and the coastal cities, like Benidorm, Valencia, and Barcelona.
It was interesting driving to Spain from England. Of course, I had to make a stop in Paris :)
When I told my automobile insurance company that I was driving to Spain, they told me I had to purchase a bail bond! Not sure if they still do this. But, they said if I was in an accident, the police would impound both vehicles and take you to jail to sort it out. The bail bond would be my get out of jail card haha. Luckily, I had not accidents.. just lots of close calls LOL
Ok, this pic has an interesting story. What would be a pic without a story haha. It was taken on a cliff on the south side of Benidorm. There is a wall that is built on the edge of the cliff. So, I wanted to take a nice pic with the wall framing my photo. I could not take the pic with the camera in my hands and needed to set it on the wall. Without a remote, I had to press the shutter release on the camera. I set the camera up and pushed the shutter release button. But, I must have knocked the camera......it went off the cliff!!!!! The camera was gone. I could not believe it. I looked over the wall and there was the camera..the strap caught on a small piece of stone and the camera was swinging back and forth..dangling high above the sea. I was able to retrieve the camera.. obviously or you would not see this pic haha. A few scratches on the camera body is my only reminder. Well, I have a new camera now.. but, I have to admit I love that old camera....been through a lot together LOL
- Pros:Great large beach, water, clubs, people, and sunshine
- Cons:Well.. it is a beach resort..nothing more..nothing less
- In a nutshell:Great Value for a great time

This page brings back memories of the years I used to spend my summer near Alicante... Benidorm was a place we used to hit every now and again... then run back to sanity LOL - You've captured the essence here
a really good page, l have never been to Benidorm, it looks too busy for me, but my brother in law goes often [ no tips about Sticky Vicky so l guess you didnt see her LOL ] lady luck must have been smiling on you when your camera went over the wall !
